If you’re a graduating high school senior headed to college baseball, go play in a collegiate summer league.
Skip the 18U travel tournaments.
Face older players. Learn from college players. See how they prepare and compete.
You’ll be better prepared when you get to campus.
The next player who hits a home run, starts running at contact and just drops his bat, circles the bases at a reasonable pace with his head mostly down and afterward heads to his dugout to maybe high-five his teammates without some choreographed BS and "acts like he's done it before" ... is my new favorite player.
Yes, I'm old.
But this crap is getting ridiculous.
It’s absurdly obvious that there’s an epidemic in college baseball where players and coaches can’t control their emotions.
I like people playing with passion, but it’s WAY beyond putting that spin on it.
Why does everyone think it’s ok to act like a jackass???
An absolutely stunning turn of events here in Athens. Tre Phelps hit a go-ahead 2-run homer, then turned to his parents (sitting directly behind Liberty dugout, 1 row in front of me when I took this photo, before his celebrating dad blocked me). Phelps got ejected. Unreal.
@aaronfitt@iamjoey92 Then that’s all that really needs to be said and the ejection was warranted. Baseball can’t go down this road. Players and coaches be better
Coaches need to lead, teach, and hold standards for their program & players. In what level of play is this acceptable? These are mini tantrums & we as coaches are doing baseball a disservice by allowing this crap by not teaching guys how to manage moments, good or bad.
Your annual reminder that the NCAA baseball tournament is (maybe a lot) better than the NCAA basketball tournament -- 16 on-campus regionals makes for one of the best sports weekends of the year.
