@MischaWillett Here’s my solution: anyone can get an extension without asking. But as soon as I’m done grading the ones that were submitted, any ones that weren’t submitted revert to zero. It’s a game theory problem and really minimizes my need to adjudicate excuses.
This short piece summarizes some of the research I’ve been doing with colleagues at Rice University about employees’ experience of calling at work.

@KatelynBeaty This is such an incredibly discouraging story, both because of the particulars (Stackhouse! Regent!) and because of the general pattern that it seems to reinforce. The one bright spot is how Crandall responded. I wonder how much of that was driven by a female board chair.
@guinasso@drantbradley So grateful for this shout out! Shannon and I were intentional about trying to incorporate lots of work categories from paid to unpaid, professional to blue collar.
@millinerd@WheatonCollege This is my favorite quote:
“Who will reconcile fractured evangelicalism? I will! Its right and left flanks will be momentarily unified in complete agreement that my ill-fated attempt to bring Wheaton College students to Bad River was a very bad idea.”
