@IMechE Thank you @IMechE for a wonderful evening. Lecture theatre packed, library networking packed and it was so lovely to meet the family of Verena Holmes, a truly inspiring woman engineer not only of her time but also today.
Congratulations to all the nominees for apprentice of the year awards. It is fantastic to see a company that fully embraces education and skills development @BAESystemsplc
Thank you @BAESystemsplc for inviting me to share in your apprentice of the year awards evening. I was totally in awe of the young people across your entire business. Everyone was a winner. Congratulations! #ApprenticeshipWeek@IMechE r

Want to prepare your baby for a lifetime of success?
Make literacy a priority from the start.
Surround your child with spoken and written language. Speak, read, sing.
And model reading as a skill - and interest - of your own. (Remember there’s nobody your child wants to emulate more than you.)
I love what this family has created, adding literacy to their daily mealtime routines. After each meal, the children hear books read aloud - which is followed by a short period of independent exploration with books.
Look at how attentive these little guys are. At this age, start small… even a minute or two at a time can help start a lifetime habit.
And never forget that literacy learning begins long before children enter kindergarten. Want them to do well in school? Don’t wait until they get there to begin.
Does/did your baby have favorite board books? I’d love to add them to my list.
