🎙️I joined @TruthLiesWork with @profpauldolan to explore how to build a team that can disagree safely before things blow up, what to do when tension boils over, and how to create a culture of "tolerance by design."
Thanks for having us on!

Left vs. Right: The HONEST Conversation Young Women Are Having | Brew
What happens when four young women from different points on the political spectrum sit down for a rapid-fire debate?
In this episode, Poppy Coburn, Stella Tsantekidou, Emily Lawford and Connie Shaw discuss everything from dating across the political divide and our moral obligations to OnlyFans, NEETs, choosing to have pets over having children, and whether Britain is still a Christian country.

🗣️Read my latest for Voices for a Free Future on what I've learnt from @profpauldolan on how we can disagree better and have more productive debates.
🤝We choose how we want to live and relate to one another. Let's maximise progress and minimise hostility. Full piece in 🧵
Building on my collaboration with @FatboySlim (see link), I have been awarded funding to build a product to capture the impact of live events on wellbeing and connection in real time. What I don't have is the tech skills to do this. Do you? If you are able to build a product that can capture, collate and feedback key biometric data from hundreds of people at once - and can help us show this in the next six months - then I would love to hear from you.

Join me at the world's largest ideas and music festival in London this September 19th-20th. I'll be appearing alongside @skdh, @NicolaSturgeon, @jimmy_wales, @bryan_johnson, @Jeremy_Hunt and many others. There are still a handful of passes left, I believe - book now https://t.co/PXeWRgF6nK
New post: The BBC's new advert asks what it has done for me but its future depends on what it can do for us, together. My piece below - https://t.co/ZbA43ycKNg
New post:
For decades, the argument has gone: if you want a more equal society, you must accept slower growth. If you want a dynamic economy, you must tolerate widening gaps between rich and poor. A growing body of evidence suggests that, whilst some inequality can promote innovation and growth, excessive inequality can become a drag prosperity. Read here - https://t.co/dP2tC83DaB
When prisons become overcrowded, early release of prisoners become a difficult but necessary move. The Government should not decide based on just the type of crime committed, but on what outcome is likely to cause the least amount of overall suffering. My piece for @lsepoliticsblog -

My paper with Maja Graso et al out now in @NatureHumBehav.
During COVID, behavioural science mostly treated "concerned and compliant" as the rational response and everything else as something to fix. We argue real uncertainty and people's competing values meant different takes on risk weren't necessarily irrational. https://t.co/6NH2IvzqPL

I make lots of predictions about human behaviour. I get a lot wrong, but here’s something I can confidently predict: if we had another pandemic, most people would not come anywhere close to sticking to any rules or restrictions. My piece for @theipaper here - https://t.co/n9hK1uoeF8
My thoughts on why the new Prime Minister @andyburnham should make reducing wellbeing inequality his organising principle at No.10, @andyburnhamHQ. You can read the piece here -

The Deliberate Edge, a study led by LSE's Professor @profpauldolan, looked at UK adults with £1 million or more in investable assets. Their anxiety score: 4.10 out of 10. The national average: 3.23. More money didn't switch off the worry.
🇬🇧 I remain absolutely convinced we were right to leave the EU - and absolutely convinced we’ve handled our disagreements dreadfully.
🤝 I sat down with @profpauldolan on the podcast to talk about how we stop hating those we merely disagree with. 👇

So here's a question for you all: if you were to buy a ticket to watch England in the 1966 World Cup final at Wembley... how much would it cost you (in today's money)?
Really enjoyed joining @SteveBakerFRSA on his podcast to reflect on 10 years after Brexit, and how we can embed tolerance by design in our organisations and communities. You can watch the full episode here - https://t.co/hwJzMGw2UV
