Welles Crowther was a former Boston College lacrosse player who had a trademark red bandanna.
He was also working in New York on Sept. 11, 2001 when terrorists struck the World Trade Center.
This is the story of how he led people to safety on that fateful day 25 years ago.
Congratulations to @JeffDarlington for being inducted into the @UFJSchool@SportsCJC Ring of Honor. I was thrilled to introduce Jeff, one of the truly elite sports storytellers of our time.
ESPN's Mike Farrell produced and directed this amazing piece for our ESPN Triple Header tonight. A brilliant idea and flawless execution. There is nothing like hockey. Find a quiet spot and watch this. Stay present. Stay grateful. Keep doing hard things. Game 1 is here. 🫶🏻❤️
Darlington = brilliant storyteller with many insights about reporting, the changing media landscape and how to build trust in a frenzied world. Thanks for sharing wisdom (and insider stories about preparedness/makeup) with #sportsmediaUF, @JeffDarlington.
I’ve been at @UF for 20+ years and today experienced a first: Guest-lectured in a NUCLEAR ENGINEERING class. Thanks for the invite, @iraharkness. Great group!
250 students in Sports Media knew the natty was destiny when @ThomasHaugh4 made the clutch trash-can shot back in November to win them some points. #gogators
