The detention of a professor without establishing his culpability is a flagrant affront to democratic principles. A mature democracy safeguards due process and intellectual freedom; it does not legitimise intimidation or institutionalise fear.

This is nothing more than a perfunctory and hollow apology, tendered only after the matter had to be escalated to the appropriate league authorities. Consider the countless women whose dignity may be exploited and whose reputations may be unjustly sullied in similar circumstances. Such reprehensible conduct must never be normalised, nor should a belated apology serve as a convenient absolution from accountability.
@galattadotcom@PriyarajanDMK Deliberate manipulation of images cannot be justified as an inadvertent error. Your idea of media content has been perverse. This is only the latest instance of your stooping to conquer
On the death anniversary of J. H. A. Tremenheere, we remember his contribution to advancing land rights as an instrument of Dalit emancipation in Tamil Nadu.
Though constrained by colonial paternalism and inconsistent implementation, the Panchami land policy underscored a fundamental truth: land is not merely an economic asset, but a foundation of dignity, autonomy, and social justice. His legacy calls for renewed commitment to reclaiming dispossessed lands, dismantling caste oppression, and ensuring that Dalits inherit not merely land, but lasting power, equality, and self-determination.
Respectful remembrance. 🙏

As a professor of English, I consider it my intellectual responsibility to cultivate in students a critical understanding of ideologies through literature. A text such as Neal Stephenson’s “The Diamond Age” can be interrogated through Marxist criticism, feminism, posthumanism, postcolonial theory, new materialism, and ethical criticism. Each framework illuminates distinct dimensions of power, identity, technology, and social justice.
Literary scholarship demands intellectual rigour: interrogate ideologies, scrutinise assumptions, and evaluate arguments through critical reasoning.
(Since you’re interested in literature, I thought I’d share my perspective with you). Thanks 🙏
Being born into affluence, possessing a luxury automobile, or belonging to a political dynasty does not inherently invalidate one’s commitment to communism. #Communism is an ideological conviction, not a certificate of poverty.
I often tell my students that, philosophically speaking, a baby’s first cry may be interpreted as the most rudimentary assertion of a fundamental right, the instinctive demand for nourishment, care, and survival. Although an infant is incapable of comprehending political ideology, that primordial cry symbolises an innate human need and the instinct to secure what is essential for existence.
Therefore, before branding @neha_aisa Neha Bora a fraud merely because she or her family may possess an expensive car, we must learn to distinguish ideological commitment from personal affluence. Scrutinise her arguments, interrogate her actions, and expose any demonstrable contradictions in her principles. But condemning someone’s political convictions solely on the basis of their family’s wealth is intellectual superficiality, not a substantive critique of ideology.
The 2G spectrum case (2008; verdict in 2017) was cynically instrumentalised as a formidable political weapon against the DMK. In December 2017, the special CBI court acquitted all the accused, holding that the prosecution had failed to prove its case.
The Aircel–Maxis case (investigation initiated in 2011; discharge of the accused in 2017), the Bofors scandal (1987), the Bellary mining controversy (investigations intensified in 2011), and the Hindalco coal-block investigation (2013) likewise warrant critical scrutiny of the politicisation of corruption allegations and the potential weaponisation of investigative institutions.
Arrest does not establish guilt; allegations are not evidence. When prosecutions fail to withstand judicial scrutiny, investigative accountability becomes imperative. Political vendetta must be scrutinised, not presumed, and justice must prevail over political expediency.
(No politics intended, just a point worth making.)
@JaiParamara@ArjunRam99 Yes, I understand your concerns. However, we must judge an ideology by its principles separately from its implementation and apply the same critical standards to capitalism.
@AmalJos95950131 Dear Doc, now, we must acknowledge a share-auto driver’s role in bringing a prisoner back to prison.
So, another salute to the share-auto driver.
An intellectually enriching experience listening to young pharmacy students explore “From ChatGPT to DrugGPT: Ethics and Accuracy of AI in Prescription and Counselling.”
Grateful to Dr. S. Sriram, M.Pharm., Ph.D., for this wonderful opportunity to learn and engage with emerging perspectives on AI in healthcare.
Indeed, a memorable learning experience.
@saysatheesh@Ahmedshabbir20 Journalism should be taught effectively as part of journalism students’ course of study, helping them understand the importance of truth, facts, ethics, and asking the right questions.
Nobody seems concerned about what is happening now. I have read three messages for this post Dr madam, (mr selvakumar, Karthikeyan R and Dinesh Dhinaa) and all focus only on the past. History matters, but we cannot ignore the present. Let us find the root causes and think of practical ways to stop these crimes.
