Life dangles carrots throughout the journey. In primary school, you're told to study hard so you can get to a good high school. In the good high school, you're told to get an A so you go to a good university and pursue a dream course. In university, you're conditioned to excel so you get a good job that comes with a good paycheck. Once you get the job, you're told to save, invest, and give your family the best life. You are conditioned to believe that your best life will be after retirement and if you don't save and invest, you will end up miserable and worthless.
Then you wake up at 60, worn out and discarded by the system that no longer finds you useful. You realize that you were only part of the cog, and that you regrettably forgot to live. But now you're dying anyway.
