It's been a while since the last time I was on Polaris! We were studying inorganic electrides over the last 4 days. In the picture you can see the impressive Polaris detector tank at @isisneutronmuon.

Done my first ever poster in the solid-state chemistry group conference in Cambridge University!
1.Loved Cambridge immediately
2.Happy to meet so many kind and talented people
3.Hope to see you next year in Edinburgh

This afternoon @pengcheng_jing and @Rubymorris2043 both presented their (first!) posters at the SSCG at the University of Cambridge. Pengcheng’s poster was on cathode materials for magnesium-ion batteries and Ruby’s was on phase transitions in Ca-Mg-H systems. Very proud!@SscgR
Today we say farewell to @nfloresg7 He is leaving to work on characterisation of Pd NPs for directed catalysis using INS. We will miss him, with his contagious (but niche) sense of humour, his willingness to always help others, and his overall fabulousness. Now sashay, away.
Our masters student @Rubymorris2043 is currently at day 2 of the #TNTschool2022 on Neutron Diffraction with the Società Italiana di Spettroscopia Neutronica in Valle Aurina! It’s an absolutely beautiful place with some incredible views to look at in between all the lectures !
Well done @nfloresg7 for his successful Researcher Equipment Access Scheme grant application to @RoyceInstitute. Nicolás will be synthesising inorganic electrides using the @RoyceSheffield arc mwlting facilites which can then be studied in greater detail.
Ross from @Prof_DHGregory's group @UofGChem is working with Ron to build a new sample environment on Polaris to test their thermoelectric materials in the neutron beam whilst they're being microwaved!
