I was so caught up in the last night of #Shadowlands that the tears poured down my face uncontrollably during the curtain call. Hugh Bonneville’s acting is masterful & Maggie Siff’s is a perfect performance of Joy. They are captivating. The ensemble and staging too were perfect.
It was such an amazing afternoon. Thanks to all who came and participated. Thanks also to @bellafreud for her generosity in sharing a dream and to the @FreudMusLondon for hosting a wonderful birthday celebration.
You are all very welcome for our event on Wednesday afternoon, celebrating Freud’s 170th birthday in what was his bedroom, overlooking the garden. There is a tour of the house / museum before our event.

My (very positive) review of Karen van Kampen’s The Brain Never Sleeps (Simon and Schuster, March 2026) is now on our website and has been sent to Dream Time, magazine of the International Association for the Study of Dreams, for publishing in the Spring edition.
Excerpt of review here, link to whole review at bottom of post.
‘This is a wonderful, captivating, wide-ranging and very original book. It is a clear description of all aspects of research into dreaming and the experience of dreams. It ranges from what is happening in the brain when we dream, to dream content, types of dreams, dream analysis, nightmares, psychoanalysis, disorders of sleep and dreaming, and the technology now being used to alter our dreams. And the debates on whether dreaming has a function, and how we can even experiment to test these theories, are also explained well.’ @simonschuster

Wonderful experts’ discussion on @BBCRadio4#withinourtime of how Dada started in Zurich, the many types of creativity within it, from poetry to collage to masks, how it spread to other cities, and how after about 8 years its informality & anarchic spirit gave way/birth to surrealism.
