@mistressdivy I recommend "Jug Face" all the time, and it was the acting that impressed me so much. The mother was appalling like women I grew up around.
Another movie I recommend is "Savageland." The pace of the movie was so deliberate and controlled; and, again, the acting was excellent.
@mistressdivy The movie "Jug Face" (2013) didn't do me any favors, considering how well the characters played roles of people in my childhood in the backwoods. Another is "The Mist" (2017), which was grimly suspenseful until the end, when it went to "O God! F*ck that ending!" for me.
@wiseconnector One is a dime, and one is a penny.
(One is not a dime, so the other one is; and one is not a penny, so the other one is. Of course, one could be a quarter, and the other could be a half-dollar.)
@Type07Safety That was a vicious Antifa dog, and it was clearing obstructing a Federal operation. The brave ICE officers risked their lives, showing great restraint in not fragging that Communist mongrel who hates America.
@Jesii_ca_M If they can milk those cows behind them, stand with me when times are rough, take care of themselves on most days, and tell me I'm not the ugliest man they've ever met, then all three of them are beauty queens
@IamGothPrincess@ronsterd89 That's interesting. I imagine that the ranch dressing would probably not thicken the mash quite as much, so you'd get a somewhat creamier result.
In polite company, we no longer say people are "Nuts." A more unbiased term for you is "Authoritarian Dependency." Quoting from Gemini overview:
Psychologists generally view authoritarian dependency as harmful to personal well-being and autonomy.
Loss of Agency: Dependency on an autocratic leader often forces a "psychological double-bind," where individuals must either comply and surrender their personal agency or resist and risk punishment.
Mental Toll: Prolonged dependency can lead to emotional numbing, a loss of self-authenticity, and "gaslighting," where individuals lose trust in their own perceptions of truth.
In-Group Bias: Authoritarian structures often foster a "black-and-white" worldview that encourages aggression toward "out-groups" or those who dissent, which can damage social cohesion.
The end of the Red Skelton show was grim. Without telling the actors in a number of shows about it, a decision had been made at the top levels of CBS, NBC, and ABC that the networks were going to "deruralify" their lineups because of the shift toward more urbanites and fewer country people. The story goes that Skelton didn't know his show was being canceled until shortly before one of his shows was about to go on. Stories differ a little about his reaction to the news, but he was probably devastated even though he took it without anger or resentment. The makeup of the country was changing; I saw it myself. Quite honestly, I never quite got onboard with the new, but, like Red Skelton, we can't fight change, even though it leaves us behind.
No, even if the Democrats win the majority in both chambers, they will, at best, impeach the President and the Vice President; however, removal from office would require the vote of 60 Senators, and there is no chance at all of that many members of the upper chamber voting to convict on any of the Articles of Impeachment.
As much as we can hope for an end to this mess before 2028, it will continue because, even if both chambers are taken by the Democrats, in November of this year, the current administration blatantly can and will ignore the rule of law and keep doing what it has been doing.
@wiseconnector I am not their employer. Their employer is the one who pays them compensation for the work they render to the profit of the owner.
See the difference?
