Forests destroyed, topsoil stripped and brown runoff reportedly flowing into a local stream, all before environmental impact assessments were completed. Finnish authorities had to step in and order work to stop.

So much for Google's green credentials. Its sustainability advertising means very little when the reality is this. Corporate hypocrisy at its finest.

53 orangutans have now been rescued from forests devastated by fires in West Kalimantan, Indonesia, and the scale of destruction is horrifying.

More than 48,500 hectares have burned this year. Orangutans are being found starving, injured and desperately searching for food in forests that have been destroyed.

These are critically endangered animals losing the very habitat they depend on to survive. How much wildlife must suffer before protecting forests becomes a priority rather than an afterthought?
