The AFL cannot be oblivious to what happens in Australia on grand final night.
It cannot be oblivious to how popular culture glorifying harming women leads to normalising harming women.
It cannot.
A woman is suing Snoop Dogg for rape and battery in America. It is alleged he forced her into a sex act in a recording studio bathroom in 2013.
He threatened ‘to come get’ a 70-year-old female journalist when she talked about rape allegations against Kobe Bryant.
He's made money off women by pimping them for sex to other men.
He was charged (and acquitted) of murder.
Many of his songs are deeply sexist, including a line that suggest he hits women after sleeping with them.
Domestic violence rates sky-rocket on the biggest sporting days across the country.
Women and children are at extreme danger of violence because some men use them as punching bags when their teams don't perform.
The AFL also promotes itself as wanting to keep women safe, rolling out respect rounds and supposedly punishing players who harm others.
And yet, no one at the AFL thought it might be a bad thing to book Snoop Dogg whose lyrics include using women for sex, bashing them and then dumping them?
No one?
Not one person?
Not even the women involved in the organisation?
I am not clear how grand-standing this man fits into the AFL's so-called culture of respect, diversity and inclusion?

I think better representation at the AFL is needed. With the rising number of DV, and these misogynistic and homophobic viewpoints from Snoop, I'd rather see someone who doesn't make any audience members feel less than.
