During my MBA dissertation in England, my laptop went off while I was presenting. Thankfully, I was in my cousin's room and I decided to open her laptop and log into my portal there. Trying to get my laptop back on and logging in to my cousin's system took like 10 mins.

When I jumped back on the call, my professor was there waiting for me. I apologised and explained and she simply said, "I understand, carry on." I was not penalised.

Two years ago, a friend from the village called me out of nowhere.

“Come and secure 4 plots , ₦300, 000 total.”

It sounded too good. But I had the money, so I sent it immediately.

That’s when the drama started.

First it was bank issues. Then network problems. Two weeks of excuses, arguments, back and forth, then he stopped picking my calls entirely.

I won’t lie, it hurt.

I got tired. Told myself “Let me just forget it.”

Then one morning, out of nowhere, he sent pictures (Receipts and Plots). He mentioned that he used his own money for the beacons.

I was still skeptical, but a few months later, I traveled to the village to confirm things myself.

To my surprise, everything was real.
My plots were intact, clearly marked, and all the documents were complete.

I just stood there smiling.

Today, each plot in that area goes for ₦300,000 the exact amount I paid for all four plots.

Sometimes God uses that one friend who sees what you can’t yet see, and moves even when you’ve already given up.

I’m thankful for the opportunity to have resided abroad and not just abroad but in the U.S. And not just USA but Southern California and Texas.

One thing that’s always glaring to me is the lack of personal responsibility of the average Nigerian and their quickness to blame the government.

Sure the government of Nigeria is historically compromised but there are things that the average person can do to better their community.

SNAKE INSIDE THE CEILING IN A CLINIC

A fellow biker was taken in an emergency to a local clinic. He then noticed a live snake going about its business inside the ceiling.

Fellow Nigerians are blaming the government. As how?

Doesn’t the facility have an owner? A charge nurse? Nurses? Maintenance people? Can’t this people call the proper entity to remove the snake?

Where are their individual personal responsibilities?

Wrong way driver, we blame government.

Refuse dumping, we blame government.

Bribe taking, we blame government.

Yes, the government has a responsibility to make sure that hospitals are being run safely and efficiently but that can never replace the citizens individual responsibilities.

We need to do better as citizens.
