Privileged to have hosted the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, @koske_felix , together with all Principal Secretaries, for their monthly meeting and a tour of the @Kenya_aist campus.
During the visit, we showcased Kenya-AIST's focus areas in science, technology, engineering, and innovation, our labs and and highlighted the institution's role in accelerating Kenya's transition to a first-world, knowledge-driven economy. We also discussed strategic areas of collaboration between government ministries and Kenya-AIST, including:
Nurturing national talent in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
✅ Producing a steady pipeline of highly skilled professionals to support national development priorities.
✅Providing direct access to cutting-edge research and positioning Kenya-AIST as a hub for innovation and technology transfer.
✅Advancing Kenya's transition to a knowledge-based economy through the creation, ownership, and commercialization of intellectual property and the development of innovative products and services.
✅Jointly sponsoring qualified staff and students to pursue postgraduate studies in critical fields of science, technology, and engineering.
The visit reaffirmed our commitment to investing in human capital, research, innovation, and technology as key drivers of Kenya's long-term economic transformation and global competitiveness as envisioned in Vision 2030, and the agenda that @WilliamsRuto has for our country.

Today, I had the pleasure of hosting the Board and Management of Makueni County Referral Hospital, led by the Chairman, Rt. Rev. Joseph Kanuku, for discussions on areas of mutual interest and potential collaboration.
Our engagement focused on opportunities for capacity building, skills development, and advancing research in health technologies. We explored how partnerships between academic and research institutions and the healthcare sector can strengthen innovation, improve service delivery, and contribute to the development of locally relevant solutions to health challenges.
Such collaborations are essential in building a robust health ecosystem, fostering research excellence, and nurturing the human capital needed to drive transformative healthcare outcomes for our communities and the nation.
Held a meeting with the National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO) from Mukaa Sub-County/Kilome in Makueni County for a tour of Konza and an engagement session at @Kenya_aist .
Led by the Deputy County Commissioner, Charles Igiha, the delegation was briefed on the strategic focus areas of Kenya-AIST and the key activities currently underway to advance science, technology, innovation, and research.
We also held productive discussions on the progress of flagship projects within Konza, including the Affordable Housing Programme and the Export Processing Zone (EPZ), which continue to play a critical role in driving industrialization, job creation, and sustainable socio-economic development.
Such engagements are important in strengthening collaboration between national government administration, industry players and strategic institutions as we work together to accelerate Kenya’s development agenda.
Frequent consultations with great leaders on the kind of development our country and region require are important in shaping a shared vision for Africa’s transformation.
Our engagement with H.E. Jakaya Kikwete, Former President of Tanzania and Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Chair of the Board of Directors, demonstrates that African countries are on the right trajectory in advancing regional cooperation, leadership, and sustainable development for the benefit of our people.
Together with Dr. Wilber Ottichilo, Governor of Vihiga County, we held a productive meeting with Dr. Adarsh Swaika to discuss opportunities for partnership in skills development, education and research, ICT, and health.
The discussions explored areas of mutual collaboration aimed at strengthening capacity building, advancing innovation and entrepreneurship, and promoting knowledge exchange between Kenya and India. We look forward to fostering partnerships that will contribute to human capital growth and inclusive development for the benefit of our people.

Following the historic award of the Presidential Charter to Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology - Kenya-AIST, I today held a strategic engagement with the institution’s executive management team, led by Ag. Principal Prof. Jennifer Khamasi, to align on the next phase of operationalization and long-term institutional vision.
Our engagement focused on positioning Kenya-AIST as a globally competitive center of excellence in advanced science, technology, research, and innovation — an institution envisioned to play a transformative role in shaping Kenya’s future economy.
As Kenya advances its digital and industrial transformation agenda, Kenya-AIST will serve as a critical national platform for nurturing world-class talent, deepening scientific capability, accelerating research commercialization, and strengthening linkages between academia, industry, and innovation ecosystems.
Beyond education and research, the institution is expected to contribute significantly to economic transformation by catalyzing high-value industries, supporting advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies, driving innovation-led enterprise, attracting investment, and creating globally competitive jobs for the next generation of Kenyan talent.
Situated at Konza Technopolis, Kenya-AIST represents a bold national investment in a future powered by knowledge, innovation, and technology — reinforcing Kenya’s ambition to emerge as Africa’s leading knowledge economy and innovation hub.

Modelled on the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Kenya-AIST was awarded its charter in May 2026 as a specialist postgraduate university with a mandate in science, technology, engineering, innovation and research.
Following the grant of its charter, Kenya-AIST is now poised to commence operations as Kenya’s flagship vehicle for attaining first-world status through the development of world-class human capital, research excellence and technological innovation.
