The Senate of Canada has unanimously adopted my motion to officially recognize May 25 as Africa Day in Canada.

I sincerely thank my fellow senators for their unanimous support of this initiative, which represents an important step toward the official inclusion of this day in the Government of Canada’s commemorative calendar 🇨🇦.

This is a meaningful recognition of the strong ties that unite Canada and the African continent.
