2 weeks ago Councilmembers @PaulKoretzCD5 and @kdeleon put forward a motion that would effectively ban new gas, diesel, and fossil fuel stations in our city!!
Fare-Free Transit 4 All!
L.A. Metro is voting on a fare-less transit pilot program this Thursday! The material conditions of working-class people MUST be centered in this program.

Congrats to all the new Neighborhood Council Members being elected across our great city! Looking forward to coming together for a more progressive Los Angeles.
Join hundreds of tenants and local elected officials for a Virtual Town Hall Wednesday, April 28th, at noon to call on the State to take further action on relief for renters.

Encampment sweeps are not only against CDC guidelines as they can increase the spread of COVID, they also can result in our unhoused neighbors losing valuable possessions, documents, and meds—all while increasing interactions with police.
Sweeps disrupt lives and relationships with caseworkers. At bottom, they make our homelessness crisis worse by making it more difficult for people experiencing homelessness to acquire employment and housing that could get them off the street.
The motion to ban sitting/sleeping across much of our city is not yet dead—it was sent back to committee. Our work opposing it continues.
Thanks to @NoHoNC, @ArroyoSecoNC, @DelReyNeighbor, @HwdUnitedNC, @theHSDNC & @CHNC_LA who have all taken stands against this motion! 17 NCs!
The @GTLNC has unanimously voted to oppose the motion before @LACityCouncil seeking to ban sitting or lying down across much of our city and targeting our unhoused neighbors.
11 NCs so far are telling our City Council to change course.
#ServicesNotSweeps#HousekeysNotHandcuffs
The @atwaternc, @easthollywoodnc, @SilverLakeNC, and @LosFelizNC have all passed Community Impact Statements opposing the proposed ordinance before @LACityCouncil to target unhoused Angelenos by banning sitting or lying down across large swaths of our city.
10 NCs and counting!
Many of our members are bringing Community Impact Statements to their respective NCs to oppose the callous and counterproductive motion currently before the @LACityCouncil to ban sitting and sleeping in much of the city, criminalizing our unhoused neighbors. #ServicesNotSweeps
It's been just over a month since we launched, and we already have members from *OVER 30* Neighborhood Councils across #LosAngeles!
If you know progressives serving on NCs in your neighborhoods, please connect them with us!
UPDATE: @easthollywoodnc, @midcitywest, and @theHSDNC have all sent letters to @LACityCouncil Budget & Finance Comm calling for a #CareNotCops budget for LA. That's 13 NCs.
The Council's budget vote is tmrw, but the advocacy of NCs from across the city on this is just beginning.
UPDATE: The Coastal San Pedro Neighborhood Council just unanimously adopted a letter to @LACityCouncil based on our template calling for a city budget that shifts funding away from LAPD and toward vital social programs!
10 NCs so far. #CareNotCops#PeoplesBudgetLA
We've developed an updated CIS template for NCs to use to urge @LACityCouncil to revise the Mayor's budget to prioritize #CareNotCops: https://t.co/Foysujh6T6.
Please share widely! #PeoplesBudgetLA
UPDATE: @EagleRockNC, @CypressParkNC, @PalmsNC, and Arts District/Little Tokyo NC have all adopted letters or community impact statements based on our template calling for an @LACity budget that prioritizes #CareNotCops!
8 councils so far... @LACityCouncil, are you hearing us?
UPDATE: The @SORONC has joined the @LosFelizNC, @SilverLakeNC, and @HHPNC in urging the @LACityCouncil to reallocate funds from the LAPD's massive budget to critical social services that Angelenos are relying on during this pandemic.
Many more NCs are on the way! #CareNotCops
