President Emmerson Mnangagwa was reportedly forced by his deputy, General Constantino Chiwenga, to abandon the 2030 term extension project, announcing instead that Zimbabwe will hold elections in 2028. He made this announcement yesterday in Harare at the party’s Central Committee meeting.
He also spoke out against corruption after Chiwenga presented a dossier implicating Mnangagwa’s allies, including his chosen successor Kuda Tagwirei, accusing him of looting billions through Sakunda, which is under American sanctions.

Mnangagwa is said to have initially offered to resign but later changed his mind, some say it was a gimmick. Sources within the police service claim that dockets have already been prepared, awaiting only arrests.
This development has led to Mnangagwa cancelling his planned trip to the United Nations General Assembly, with his advance team recalled back home, according to information emerging from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It is further reported that a group of military leaders have written a letter to the political leadership, complaining about the obscene levels of corruption crippling the country.
