Been working on a classic RTS game with my buddy @Promeduzh for a while now.
Inspired by all the games we played for thousands of hours as kids like Age of Empires, Warcraft 3 or Empire Earth.
Built our own engine for it with Pre-rendered 3d visuals.

@PondsideGames Thanks a lot. That complexity does come with a price though. The burden of maintenance is high, and it takes a lot of planning and isolated tests to advance the game meaningfully without breaking something existent
Changed the world tile size and some of the other constants that determine the height of the units. My aim here was to shift the attention of the player closer to center #gamedev#indiegame#grimdark
Tweaked the layers gradient and their ordering a little bit, modified some of the art. The fog layers were also changed to suit the new look. The second part shows a different sky fading to black instead of bright orange. #gamedev#indiegame#grimdark
I just realized that there are so many units I haven't properly showcased yet. I built this test environment recently to isolate, analyze and debug specific behaviors. Perhaps this will help #gamedev#indiegame#grimdark
