Stay away from people who still see the old you & don’t respect the current you.
You could be out here making real big moves, maturing, and leveling up, but to them, you're still the same kid who messed up back in the day.
They’ll discount your progress as a "phase" or act like you’re trying to be someone you're not. It’s pure projection because your growth makes them see their own stagnation.
Over time, repeatedly interacting with someone who treats you like your past self tempts you to fall back into a life or old habits you've worked so hard to outgrow.

I’m always fascinated by people who try so hard to prove to the world that they’re rich. I just don’t get it. I mean, you’ve worked hard to get your money, now you must prove to people that you actually have that money? Isn’t that too much work?
A guy was enjoying his quiet rich life & then someone said he’s poor. Now he’s on a tirade trying to prove that he’s actually rich, telling people he was raised in a rich family & he grew up rich. To what effect?
If you have USD 50,000 in your bank account, what people say won’t increase or reduce it. Instead, you put yourself at risk of beggars and thieves by showing people you have money. I’d rather quietly enjoy my riches & let people think what they want to think.
I don’t know whether it’s just me but I feel like the constant desire/need to prove to people that you are rich and/or happy are attributes of insecurity. If you’re rich or happy, there’s no need to prove it to anyone except yourself.
