I don’t think VAT on school fees was ever about raising money for the state system. And it never will.
On the other hand it’s going to make private education affordable for the elites only. One of the most bizarre, destructive policy decisions imaginable.
On reflection - have to give credit to UEFA - they learned from past lessons and made the matchday experience on Saturday quite good. And the Killers were fantastic choice for the prematch entertainment
@Neil_Ryner@Adam_Hosker@MortgageMikeN2 I bought a property subject to a long term commercial tenancy. It's currently D rated. I can get to C quite easily, but my tenant may not grant me access to do the upgrade works and I can't force access as this breaches quiet enjoyment. Will apply to literally tens of thousands
@Neil_Ryner@MortgageMikeN2 I agree. There's a ticking time bomb for commercial landlords coming in April with EPC required - you've got FRI leases where nobody has a clue who's responsible for the works and what happens to the tenancy if it's rendered unlawful by dint of the rating.
@MouseHunter99@MortgageMikeN2 As someone who lends to many "professional" BTL landlords, the application of logic and reason is a spectrum. And burying heads in sand and hoping problems will go away on their own is a genuine strategy for some.
My Estates Gazette column from last August on the tower wars in Manchester. There is more murk than miracle to the Manchester development scene. The closer Burnham gets to power, the more will come out.
@LovellPropguru True but that’s just london and those consents are for flats that have limited demand right now. Perhaps if it had been easier to get those consents when the demand was there, instead of the usual squabbles about affordable and other contributions… just saying.
Make it easier for developers to get consents and actually build them out then.
Instead insane government policies stifle house building. Developers need to use every lever available.
As ever with this🤡government, their policies stand at odds with the rhetoric they espouse.
Developers pour £££ into politics to keep the system working for their profits.
And while their money tries to silence local democracy, the housing crisis goes unsolved.
