Periods of darkness are meant to alter your life’s trajectory. You realize you must evolve and fully internalize the lessons from this time, lest your suffering be a waste. Coming out the other side stronger, and full of enthusiasm for life is the only way.
Wayyy too many chronically online takes on the tl recently. I bet seeing these folks’ daily screen time will explain the delusions. I’m off to get drenched in the Vancouver rain to ground myself.
Texting is a blind spot for most single men. To make successful introductions as a matchmaker, an underrated aspect of my job is preventing my clients from texting themselves out of dates.
To illustrate, here’s a text conversation between one of my single girlfriends, and a guy another matchmaker introduced her to.
The guy is almost 40, successful, handsome, etc. But texts like he’s in high school.
My girlfriend got the ick.
IMO this is his matchmaker’s fault 😐
This year, I’ve thrown out my list and simplified it to one guiding principle: energy. I’ll intuit the rest as I get to know you. Rigid dating checklists only serve to exhaust you and foster bitterness.
The farther you go single, the shorter your list of “must have’s” should get, assuming you do want to meet someone
Unfortunately for a lot of people (mostly women tbh) it gets longer and longer until no one meets the bar
@catehall The illusion of choice has ruined dating culture. Something as benign as cologne is enough to make people write others off, and it doesn’t even occur to them that this is abnormal.
@redl3tters I agree. Being well-adjusted will bring you success on the apps (not that I condone them) and offline. That’s the first area to focus on imo
