@ArtyArtHistory 2/ all other classical players at the time were trained in and highly capable improvisers. Jazz I traduced new elements to that, but the concepts are similar. You Jaguar have to learn the vocabulary.

@ArtyArtHistory I believe this is Dexter Gordon, but not sure which tune. Of course it’s a bit hard to identify without the head, but I could get that for you if you want. But the notion that improvisation of this kind is something new is surprising, given that Mozart, Beethoven and all other…
