Protect California is a 501(c)(4) that educates the public on how to make CA safer, improve knowledge of policing strategies & challenges law enforcement faces.
SB 230 will provide law enforcement the training they are asking for to improve outcomes. Support SB 230 to give our police officers, sheriff deputies and CHP professionals the tools they need to keep us all safe.

Officer Paul Verna's killer was tried and convicted. After the sentence was overturned, he was convicted again. Now, 37 years later, he will either stand trial for his murdering officer Verna or walk free. The story of a grieving family that continues to suffer.
We take a major step forward in improving police/community outcomes by teaming up specially trained police officers with mental health clinicians. This is part of our national initiative to invest in better policing.

Beyond the echo chamber: “Nearly 75 percent of survey respondents with a view on the matter want to maintain police funding.” And 66% “don’t want to decrease the size of the police force or the scope of their work.”

An unprovoked, debilitating laser attack on one of our officers that may end his career as a police officer. A LAPD veteran, husband, father, and volunteer who assists the homeless.
This person is NOT an attorney for the LAPPL. The Tweets associated with her account are repugnant and we denounce them in the strongest possible terms.
Attached is our joint statement with the Oakland Police Officers' Association and San Jose Police Officers' Association regarding the death of George Floyd. @ProtectSanJose
We share the anger with what happened in Minneapolis but we have a #SJPD officer in the hospital now, attacked by violent protesters. More violence will not help. We need calm & respect for each other. Our officers will protect your ability to protest, but only peaceful protest.
No. Not today. You don't get to make this about you. The officers in your parents' case we're MURDERED. They didn't "lose" their lives. Their lives we're taken. Honor fallen officers by prosecuting those who attack officers.
"Veteran officers who have seen it all — riots, earthquakes, the HIV epidemic on Skid Row — have never seen anything like this."

@SantaRosaPolice Every level of government needs to ensure they’re doing everything they can to protect and care for our first responders & medical staffs.
Our deepest condolences to the family and fellow officers of @SantaRosaPolice Marylou Armer. Police departments across the country are battling to stay healthy and protect communities.

2nd SFPD officer confirmed with COVID-19 with potentially dozens more exposed. We need fast-track testing of first responders NOW. We cannot afford to allow COVID to spread through the Department.
Tragically one of our Sergeants is confirmed to have the COVID-19 Virus. It's critical that any officer potentially exposed receive expedited testing. Testing delays compromise their safety, the safety of the public, and the ability of the SFPD to respond to emergencies.
This virus is hitting police departments during the middle of a national police hiring crisis. Most CA depts rely on overtime to field enough officers to protect their cities. COVID-19 is already straining a severely strained system.
“First responders cannot shelter in place. All of us have to do our jobs, & our families have to deal with that. The last thing we need is law enforcement who’s trying to help people to be exposing them because we don’t know that we’re carrying the virus.” https://t.co/BXyibL28K9
Decisive action is needed to keep first responders on the job. Immediate quarantine if exposed and rapid testing to get us back to the front lines as soon as possible. We appreciate @sjpdchief leadership in making this happen for SJPD officers.

Last year our member associations made a public appeal asking for more resources to help reduce the number of outstanding guns on the State’s Armed & Prohibited list. We’re pleased to see progress being made on this issue.

According to a new national survey, 82% of voters nationally have a favorable opinion of their local police officers. Full release of results at 11:30 a.m.
This suspected car break-in crew appears to have hit neighborhoods in multiple cities. Possibly San Jose too. Wish we could say with confidence they will face stiff penalties if found guilty.

The staffing crisis threatens the safety of our city. Of the last two academy classes, fewer than 50% of recruits made it through field training. A plan from the Department and City is needed ASAP.
