A day three decades in the making! Today the Na-cho Nyak Dun, Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in , Vuntut Gwitchin, Gwich'in Tribal Council and Government of Yukon signed the Peel River Watershed Regional Land Use Plan! #PeelProtected
The final plan is complete! There will be a signing ceremony in Mayo on Aug 22nd where YG & Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in, Na-Cho Nyäk Dun, Vuntut Gwitchin & the Gwich'in Tribal Council, representing the Gwich'in Nations of NWT sign the plan together.
... 32% of questionnaire respondents did not recommend any changes to the Plan (which calls for 55% permanent protection and 25% interim protection); 64.5% of the total public comments received expressed a desire to have more protection of the watershed.
