Hear from attorneys assisting our legal defense about the first-ever Biodiversity Necessity Defense.
"Landscape immunity": fewer zoonotic diseases spill from intact diverse ecosystems than from fragmented species-poor ones. No force compromises immunity quite like a highway.
"If you want to prevent pandemics, you have to think about roads."

Motorized transportation inflicts suffering on an almost unimaginable scale; there may be nothing humans do that causes more misery to more wild animals than driving. -- Ben Goldfarb, Crossings.

Almost the entire McDermitt Caldera, home to so many wild beings from wildflowers to eagles to pronghorn, is on the chopping block for lithium development. We must not let this happen.

Vociferous early morning Rock Wren slightly damp from dew in McDermitt Caldera Montana Mountains. Wren went from the hopping in rocks to perching on a nearby habitat kiss of death - a Lithium Nevada claims stake. Thacker miner has huge claims up here that must NEVER be developed.
@Thomas38404514 Exactly. We (meaning all life on Earth) barely have a planet left now. Imagine the devastation of replacing 1.5 billion cars and building the planned 25 million miles of new roads? 😳

These beautiful birds will lose more of their home if further mining proceeds in McDermitt Caldera. Where will they live when the mines go in? They will probably die (since other shrike territory is already taken).

@WLDefense Loggerhead Shrike in McDermitt Caldera amid lithium claims. The hooked bill is for nabbing big insects, little birds, voles, and small snakes - and then sometimes impaling them on thorns, broken branches, barbed wire. Quite the powerful predatory songbird.
Lovely scented indigo & white lupine (L. Brevicaulis?) in the McDermitt Caldera Montana Mountains blooming right now - and full of surprises. Look out for spider talons/legs if you bend down to wallow in the smell.
