These games came out during a time where formulas were signs of "stagnation." As much as B&W are obviously great in retrospect, they were somehow both antiquated, and way ahead of their time. And because of that backlash, TPC will never stop adding gimmicks to new games.

I get the point of posts like this, but I need to reiterate for anyone who wasn't old enough to be there at the time: on release, bw were loathed. they were seen as the pinnacle of pokemon "going downhill" and "losing creativity". this style was abandoned because it was hated.

@ImFreshImSLY @prplpriestess No, however, having save data from 1 lets you use the Memory Link in 2, allowing NPCs to call upon events from the first game using your name. Other than that, it opens up some optional battles. Still recommend it so you can have those nice moments of seeing characters grow
