@XiWellWisher@SecondRingSZN And I never asked for a great one from China either. Even The 5th Republic or House of Cards after S4, which you guys seem to treat like your Big4, aren’t shows I’d consider great.
@XiWellWisher@SecondRingSZN lol I never said a word about overthrowing the CCP. All I said was, if you guys wanna talk about these things, why not just do it directly?
Twisting the point again. Whether something exists and whether it’s great are two completely different things. And in the US, there are tons of ways to talk about politics—real-world speeches, podcasts, comedy, you name it. You don’t need to hide behind a TV show about some great boss fighting corruption or pretend you’re telling a story about an ancient dynasty when you’re actually talking about the present
@XiWellWisher@SecondRingSZN Another example of your lack of reading comprehension. From the very beginning, I’ve been talking about people who love watching political shows and wanna talk politics so badly. If you’re just not interested in this genre, then this isn’t about you at all
@XiWellWisher@SecondRingSZN Just checked Douban. The Long Season looks good, but it didn’t even make the top 10. And the other one is an animated show, are Chinese live-action shows and animated series even made by the same people?
@XiWellWisher@SecondRingSZN Just like I told you before, every show people have mentioned to me in the comments is at least 10 years ago, and the big 4 from the original post are all over 20 years. That pretty much backs up what he said
@XiWellWisher@SecondRingSZN Idk, every show I mentioned in my comment is at least 10 years ago, and some are over 20, and even they admit the scripts has been getting worse. Also, Ming Dynasty in 1566, which they call the best Chinese political show, looks pretty dissident to me
@XiWellWisher@sino_sinovski@ZKONOONOKC I really don’t care about anyone’s political views on Tiananmen, and I have no interest in debating them. My point is simply that China’s entire political rules has changed a lot since then
Watching historical political satires and endlessly recycling memes about them is basically a kind of masturbation for Chinese keyboard warriors. They wanna talk politics so badly, yet they can’t even have modern political satire shows of their own
You’d probably call every show I named leftist anyway, but whatever. Just look at an election map, major cities tend to lean left, and they also happen to have more people working in the industry and greater consumer spending power. Capitalism doing its thing. More consumers, more products.
