Jesus didn’t say this because it was easy.
He said it because it was necessary.

“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”

That wasn’t spoken about friends.
It was spoken about those who mocked Him, lied about Him, condemned Him, and crucified Him.

Today, we are living in a world where people are deeply divided, emotionally charged, and constantly triggered. Not everyone you disagree with is evil. Many are confused. Many are manipulated. Many are operating under narratives carefully engineered to provoke fear, outrage, or misplaced compassion.

Empathy itself has been weaponized.
Truth has been blurred.
And some people are genuinely afraid—threatened, pressured, or coerced into silence or compliance.

The devil doesn’t need everyone to be wicked.
He only needs us to be divided.

If he can keep us:
• angry instead of prayerful
• reactive instead of discerning
• fighting each other instead of loving
• dehumanizing instead of interceding

then he’s already winning.

Christ calls us higher.

That doesn’t mean abandoning truth.
It means holding fast to the Truth without hatred.

Jesus is the Truth, the Way, and the Life.
And the enemy wants us distracted—arguing online, assuming the worst, turning neighbors into enemies, and forgetting that every soul is someone Christ died for.

Some people truly do not see what’s happening.
Others are caught in systems they don’t understand.
Some may even be acting under fear or threat.

Our job is not to rage.
Our job is not to mock.
Our job is not to fight flesh and blood.

Our job is to pray.

Because prayer disarms what arguments never will.

If we don’t pray for our enemies, we slowly become like them.
If we do pray for them, we remain free.

Lord Jesus,
You asked the Father to forgive even as You were being crucified.
Teach us that kind of love.

Soften hearts hardened by fear.
Open eyes clouded by manipulation.
Protect those who feel trapped or threatened.
Heal the divisions tearing families, communities, and nations apart.

Guard us from anger disguised as righteousness.
Deliver us from pride masquerading as truth.
Keep us anchored in You when the world tries to pull us into chaos.

Make us instruments of peace in a time of division.
Give us courage to stand in truth—and humility to love without condition.

Forgive us, Lord, where we have hated instead of prayed.
And help us remember:
The battle is spiritual, not personal.
