At the Somerset Craft Guild, we would like to say a very big thank you to Jack Beaumont for sharing his wonderful creations with us. You can continue to see Jack’s work in the Guld gallery or to discuss a commission, please see Jack’s website https://t.co/vyVolT0Toe
#MakerOfTheMonth Jack Beaumont makes ‘Haircombs’ -the blue one is called ‘Seven silver sticks of old’ set with Lapis Lazuli & features Hugin & Munin -Odin’s ravens. ‘Winter waits’ has Baltic amber & ‘Oaken leaves do fall’ has tiger’s eye. Each comb has a poem on the back.
Maker of the Month Jack Beaumont is currently undertaking a major change of direction. Jack has invested in a laser engraver to do some of the work - the illustrations and prose are still Jack’s. Today’s photo shows another variation of ‘Her wings were of midnight and stars’.

What a lovely day at @rhswisley yesterday making plans for our November events and for our Spring event in 2024! Wonder if people realise how much planning in advance goes into our events 🤔
#MakerOfTheMonth Jack Beaumont is inspired by myths & legends of north west Europe & he loves storytelling. Jack’s work draws inspiration from myths, legends & his own stories. “Run, run towards the moon” are lines from Jack's poem about love, the seasons & being together & apart
Guild member Jack Beaumont went to art school in the mid 70s to study illustration and discovered his undying passion - jewellery!
Today’s photo shows ‘Dragon wing’ - Jack loves creating one-off pieces of work and these ones certainly ‘fly’ off the shelf at the Guild gallery.
Our Maker of the Month for July is Guild member Jack Beaumont, a silversmith & narrative jeweller living in rural Somerset. “Her wings were of midnight and stars” is an articulated collar made from sterling silver, set with Baltic amber. Visit the Guild gallery- open Tue-Sat 10-4
A very big thank you to all our wonderful jewellers for sharing their work with us throughout June. The Somerset Craft Guild continues to be a wonderful place to find unique, hand-crafted pieces to suit a range of budgets. With every purchase, you will be supporting local makers.
Our final Guild member for the June Jewellery Spectacular is Alban Depper. Taking the design from historical pieces, he develops them into jewellery for the 21st Century, giving people a link back to an ancient craft. Alban keeps the living art of Viking tradition alive.
Today we are sharing the wonderful work of Prue Biddle for our June Jewellery Spectacular. Prue makes these bangles in both silver and gold and in a variety of designs, weights and sizes. They are designed to open to go on directly over the wrist and so can fit the wrist neatly.
