continues to write about Black struggle and the abuse of the American criminal justice system. His next court hearing will be December 16, 2022 to determine whether or not Mumia can use evidence hidden by the prosecution that demonstrates his innocence. (4)

Mumia Abu-Jamal is a political activist and journalist who was a member of the Black Panther Party, served as the president of the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists, and works diligently to expose police violence in marginalized communities. (2)
In 1982, Mumia was wrongfully convicted of murder and sentenced to death. His death penalty sentence was eventually overturned in 2001 after numerous appeals and an international mass mobilization of people. Mumia is currently serving life in prison and (3)
