My personal truths as a clinical psychologist:
#296 Beliefs are often emotional conclusions.
We like to think our beliefs come from careful reasoning. Often, they start with a feeling.
A person who has been hurt may come to believe that nobody can be trusted. Someone who has faced repeated rejection may decide they aren’t good enough. A parent who is frightened for a child may begin to see danger everywhere.
The same thing happens in politics, religion, relationships, and everyday life. We have an emotional reaction first, then our minds get busy finding reasons to support it.
That doesn’t mean the belief is wrong. It means it’s worth being curious about where it came from.
One of the most useful questions we can ask ourselves is: “What feeling might be underneath this belief?”
Sometimes the answer is fear. Sometimes anger. Sometimes grief. Sometimes hope.
The more we understand the emotional roots of our beliefs, the more honestly we can examine whether they still fit reality.

You know what’s wild? We spend so much time chasing a salary that we don’t even notice we’ve completely lost ourselves in the process.
You’re exhausted, you’re anxious, you’re running on nothing but deadlines and desperation, and somehow you still show up every Monday with a smile because bills don’t care about your mental health.
And the worst part is nobody is talking about it. Not your manager, not HR, definitely not the company.
But this Sunday, we are.
Our guest speaker, Sandra Anyahaebi (@sandybrownx), & host, Sophia Sanusi (@sophia_sanusi) , will be getting into all of it.
