💡Psychedelic Spotlight: Ibogaine💡
While comprehensive in many aspects, the EU's mental health strategy has yet to fully address the rising issue of addiction disorders. Ibogaine could potentially play a significant role in this context. Given the EU's commitment to improving mental health and addressing the addiction crisis, there is a clear need for more research and policy discussion around substances like Ibogaine. The EU should rigorously investigate its potential in treating addiction disorders, learning from best practices in other countries. For example, the recent allocation of $43 million in the state of Kentucky toward clinical research of Ibogaine is a major step in approaching the opioid crisis with innovative treatment.
Recently met with MEP @alexagiussaliba, co-chair of the new MEP Action Group for the Medical Use of Psychedelics. Great news! Spain prioritizes mental health for the upcoming EU Council Presidency. Starting this summer, medicinal use of psychedelics shall be put on the spotlight of Brussels discussions. A science-based comprehensive EU mental health strategy must include psychedelic therapy.
