Today: Full speed, inside the swim markers.
I’m calling on all Commissioners to support my motion tonight @ParkBoard to prohibit and severely restrict sea-doos in Burrard Inlet.

It’s a toxic workplace characterized by knee jerk partisan pettiness - though I would highlight the thoughtful and attentive words of my colleagues Bligh, Maloney and Orr. Lost in this mess : council majority voted to ignore and abandon some if our city’s most vulnerable
Watched City Council last night. While everyone was waiting for the natural gas motion, a different one—about reinstating sex worker support—highlighted exactly how council has been operating lately

@The22Chronicles It is tax payer funded so there should be some rigour. But no, I'm not cheering 6-10 months - I'm questioning the *perception* that the system is fair, transparent, and free from influence -- so that whatever the wait time is, it is equally applied regardless of who you know.
The thing about conflict of interest is *perception*.
A normal taxpayer-funded plaza takes 6-10 months to approve, but if you are a neighbour in the employ of the mayor Ken Sim's office it takes less than four?
🤔
*perception*
A newly constructed temporary plaza built next to an East Vancouver restaurant is raising questions as to whether it was accelerated due to the business’ connection to the mayor’s office.

@markeburge The alcohol-permitted plazas come to us for approval, usually after a 'dry-run' pilot. Notwithstanding business adjacent selling food and offsales, this kind of plaza only gets reported (or not) to us. I don't have any record of this one reported to us, but wouldn't need approve.
@Beefshaver Vanshitty isn't just a lazy sock puppet, though.
In fact, Vanshitty Trevor & team are dangerous purveyors of Ai slop and foreign funded propaganda. #Vanpoli isn't unique to rife ubiquitous political misinformation on Musk's platform, but Cambridge Analytica roots are still here.
Speaking of cheap political stunts @Trev_Ford_North
Bringing cameras into work areas to film non political city staff (and especially in context of mass "zero means zero" layoffs) is very intimidating and disrespectful indeed.
This you? It's not us.

We're excited to be moving forward with piloting VanStat, a new operational system that breaks down silos between City departments to deliver a more efficient, effective City Hall.
VanStat is built off of CompStat, an evidence-based reporting program used to identify challenges and improve accountability through data and cross-department collaboration.
VanStat will ensure City resources are deployed where they're needed the most.
Trevor, with (every modicum I can possibly muster of) due respect, you've no position to lecture on cheap political stunts, respectful workplace, or harassment. Your office literally trumped up defamatory lies about an elected councillor. Your entire brand built on disrespect 1/2
Very disappointed in @PtFry@rebeccaleebligh@seanorr - Your cheap political stunts end up intimidating and harassing non-political city staff, who are just trying to do their job. You know better than to bring cameras into staff work areas. #electrespect
Yesterday, an adversarial City Councillor leaned into my office uninvited to call me a “f#@!ng donkey” I think he meant it as an insult.
But donkeys are intelligent, loyal, tough as heck, and regularly deployed to protect livestock from predators.
checks!

@henryyaormd@thebaddestpitt Except this IS about one individual - Cllr Zhou chose to spread deliberate and malicious untruths - at worst he’s guilty of defamatory libel, at best he’ s grossly incompetent and unfit for the job. He issued a non apology in English media has he posted a retraction on WeChat? No
@parksboardfacts@COPEVancouver@seanorr As a city government we have invested a significant amount of capacity and capital into the success of FIFA World Cup in Vancouver - if that is put at risk of boycott, protest, or disruption because ICE are deployed for security in our city it is very much our lane.
While voting as an ABC block, Cllr Zhou - quoted in the article -- professed to be solidly "pro housing," but his voting record suggests he's "solidly" voted against new supportive housing, rentals in Shaughnessy, and now, social housing city-wide #notallhousing
The beautiful game, used as a cover for deportation and breaking up families, while FIFA strokes Trump's ego with some symbolic prize. Please let's do something meaningfully symbolic and stand for Sanctuary & Access without Fear in Vancouver's FIFA plan https://t.co/N9oLZXDIFt
Today, as Trump awarded new "FIFA Peace Prize" his militarized ICE agents are targeting football-loving racialized migrants
Wednesday, I ask Vancouver to affirm our commitment to Sanctuary City: Access Without Fear as part of our FIFA Human Rights Plan.

'Twas weeks before Christmas
And staff at the City
Checked stockings for pink slips
Such a Holiday pity...
"'Tis best for our budget!" laughed our malevolent hero
"More layoffs to come, 'cause Zero Means Zero!"

@jeremyomand1 The report clearly states to continue supporting the advisory committees through the year would cost $160,000. That’s the regularized budget for this work regardless of FIFA or volume of hearings. Corporate Services are being cut by $8m. They are reprioritizing existing resources
Zero Means Zero Meets FIFA
Staff report Dec 9 recommends terminating 10/11 Advisory Committees. As World Cup looms and we've yet to see a Human Rights Plan, volunteer-led citizens advisories are scrapped.
Eliminating Committees saves $160k @ department targeted by #zeromeanszero
