Bindu and family including her elderly mother, lived in a tiny home on 3 cents of land for 44 years. The administration gave them just 30 minutes to vacate.

When they locked themselves inside to save their only shelter, police smashed the door open with crowbars and forcefully threw them out onto the street.

Bindu's family has lived on this land for over 40 years. In 1995, the petitioner's father obtained a patta for 65 cents, including Bindu's 3 cents. Though the Munsiff Court ruled in Bindu's favor in 2017, the decision was overturned on appeal. Bindu alleges the petitioner forged documents, and fraudulently obtained an eviction decree.

This happened in the same Kerala that crowdfunded ₹48 crore in blood money to release Abdul Rahim from a Saudi jail, where he was convicted for the murder of a 15-year-old boy.

Can’t the same state, media, and public come together to raise even 1/1000th of that for this poor homeless family?
Or does Kerala’s collective consciousness get evoked only for a specific community?
