Public Health Educator w/ an emphasis in Health Education and Promotion. A proud Alpha Kappa Alpha woman, Eta Sigma Gamman by smarts, on the road to MPH.
And while I’m on my soapbox about public health being a group project that we’re failing…
Louisiana’s decision to classify abortion pills as a controlled substances will lead to an increase in preventable deaths.
The last health treaty that reached a resolution was in 2003 —the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. Not only is it time to strike another treaty, it’s not a question of *if* it will be another pandemic, but when, and we can’t continue to fail.
Just a reminder that elections have extreme consequences.
Under 45’s administration, he pulled the US out of the World Health Organization —this can’t continue. Public health is a group project and we have fallen short and behind.
Breaking News: An attempt to strike a global agreement on how to handle a future pandemic failed. Among the sticking points are equitable access to vaccines and financing to set up surveillance systems. https://t.co/CWmhd1C3Se
Other than skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting American women, with 1 in 8 receiving the diagnosis of breast cancer during one’s lifetime. Early detection provides the best chance of successful treatment and cure.

Here’s a #repost of a graphic I made last year during icky season to help you navigate your symptoms. Wearing a mask is top tier primary prevention when in crowded spaces with low ventilation.
Happy #SummerSolstice! 🌞
Here’s to longer days and fun in the sun. While you’re enjoying yourself here are a few safety tips —wear your sunscreen, stay hydrated, and of course take a break.
Even though the Emancipation Proclamation was signed in 1863, enslaved people in Galveston, TX weren’t aware of it until June 19, 1865. Not even a full generation out of slavery, Black people were inspired to take control, & transform their lives for the better. Happy Juneteenth!
and according to American Psychological Association only 26.4% of Black men ages 18 to 44 who experience daily feelings of anxiety or depression get help. It’s ok to take care of yourself and it’s equally ok to take care of others.
June marks #MensHealthMonth / #MensMentalHealthMonth. Many diseases that disproportionately impact men like #heartdisease and #cancer can be prevented through regular health screenings. The death rate for Black men by suicide was four times greater than women in 2018
I often tell people I tripped into public health, I definitely didn’t predict lupus, but in between both —there’s something to be shared. All of that to say… I’ve turned into a podcast bro for the time being. Trailer is up & full episode drops on Fri, 9 AM. Link in the bio. 💜✨
Sharing my stories with my people is one thing, sharing it with others?? 🥹🫠😂 BUT! We’re here now! And what better way to merge my personal story and passions than with Lupus Awareness Month?
If you are experiencing signs of #mentalexhaustion, take a break and unplug. Specific to those living with lupus, @lupusorg has health educators free of charge to assist, and they also have a self paced program —SELF, to get you started.
May is also #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth. @namicommunicate uses this month to fight stigma, provide support and resources, and to educate and advocate for mental health.

Navigating and dealing with a #chronicillness like #lupus, mental health is a large part of treatment.
