And these are not marginals. These are "ordinary people." The ones they like to hide behind: they say, the people are kind, they just deceived them. No. The people know perfectly well what violence is, because they themselves breathe it.
For centuries, Russian civilization has been built not around law, but around fear. Not around rights, but around punishments. Not around the personality, but around the executioner. Therefore, the executioner there is the archetype of the hero. They are afraid of him, but they admire him. He is cursed, but he is imitated.
Hence the strange mixture of slavery and aggression. In front of the authorities — a bent back, in front of the weak — a boot in the face. It's the same psychology, just pointing up or down.
The scariest thing is not even cruelty. Cruelty happens to all nations. What's scary is the lack of an internal ban. The lack of a moral stopcock. There is no "no" that turns on automatically for people who have grown up in a culture of responsibility.

And when there is a feeling that "it is possible", everything accumulated comes out. Hatred, envy, thirst for humiliation of another, delight in someone else's pain. It's not a flash — it's unloading. It's like a man can finally be himself.
Therefore, do not believe in fairy tales about "a great people captured by evil power." The authorities there are not aliens. This is a concentrate. Distillate. An extract from the collective unconscious, where Malyuta, Beria and Stalin are not monsters, but recognizable types.
If you want to understand a country, don't watch it smile. Look at how angry she is.
Because smiling can be diplomacy.
Silence is fear.
But rage is always sincere.
And it is in this rage that Russia is telling the truth about itself.

Jūs visi spriedāt, ka Ukraina padosies. Jūs piedāvājāt Zelenskim evakuāciju, bet viņš teica: "Man nevajag transportu, man vajag munīciju."

Gadiem ilgi Ukraina cīnās par visu Eiropu. NATO tika radīta, lai cīnītos tikai vienā karā – nevis lai dotos uz Afganistānu vai Sīriju –, bet vienā karā: lai glābtu brīvo Eiropu no Krievijas agresijas. Ukraina ir vienīgā valsts, kas cīnās šajā karā, un mēs joprojām diskutējam: vai mums viņus uzņemt vai nē? Ukraina ir vienīgā valsts, kas piepilda NATO sūtību. Un mēs viņiem esam parādā visu. Ak, ziedosim... ziedosim viņus. Bet Zelenskis izdara... es pat nezinu, kā lai izskaidro šo izvēli. Kā krievs es arī jūtos vainīgs. Tāpēc es nevaru viņam teikt – ziniet, parādi Trampam vidējo pirkstu.

Bet atkal – cik senatoru mums šeit ir? Vai jūs pateiksiet Donaldam Trampam, ka viņš to nedrīkst darīt? Jums ir 85. 85. 85 ir vairāk nekā divi, vai ne? Ja rēķinām no 100 senatoriem. Tātad, jā, kā tas nākas, ka šis likumprojekts joprojām mētājas kaut kur Senāta zālē un joprojām nav pieņemts?

Putins redz visus pārējos – viņi svin. Un, starp citu, Krievijai ir ziemeļkorejieši, viņiem ir kubieši, viņiem ir afrikāņu brīvprātīgie. Bet mēs joprojām runājam par eskalāciju. Mūsu pusē ir viss: militārā, politiskā, ekonomiskā vara, un mēs joprojām zaudējam karu.

Tikai pateicoties Ukrainai, Krievija nepiepilda Putina sapni par Krievijas impērijas atjaunošanu. Bet ja, nedod Dievs, Ukraina tiks piespiesta noslēgt šo darījumu, tad ir pilnīgi skaidrs – Putins īstenos savu sapni, un tad, draugi, jūs esat nākamie. Bet jūs neesat gatavi cīnīties."
