Why does @BritamEA need me to visit their offices in the flesh for a simple transaction? Are we in the stone age? I can't remember the last time I needed to appear anywhere in person just to file a claim. Hebu kuweni serious nyinyi @BritamKenya
The @UN Security Council stands alone in its authority to act on behalf of all member countries on questions of peace & security.
It alone adopts decisions binding on all.
No other body or ad-hoc coalition can legally require all countries to comply with decisions on peace & security.
Its responsibility is singular.
Its obligation is universal.
That is why reform is essential.
That is why we must act without delay to enhance the representation & effectiveness of the Security Council.
Vaccine disparity between rich and poor countries is not only ethically unacceptable, it's also epidemiologically hazardous because the spread of Covid means increased risk of more dangerous variants.
Wananchi are suffering with high fuel prices, curfew, ridiculous taxes to repay loans not entirely beneficial to them. What are their numerous elected 'leaders' doing? Plotting how to get huge send off packages and pensions. Sisi wajinga 😠
On average, women make 80 cents for every dollar men earn for equal work. That figure is even less for women of colour & those with children.
On #EqualPayDay, let’s resolve to dismantle the discrimination & gender stereotypes that contribute to the gender pay gap.
@masafamare_fu @alkags The problem is social advancement. Without money or connections, your next option is a degree.
Life isn't about money alone. People need self-actualization. In Kenya, we are celebrated for what we buy, who we know.and the papers we acquire, not for what we do or think.
@evansokenya@alkags We are teaching a generation that feels entitled to graduate because they paid. And the administrations accept because it's about the money.
Money means more than education these days. People are paying for the paper, not the education.
@TuJadili@alkags I might be wrong but I'm starting to doubt our local PhDs. There was a scandle about JKUAT having ridiculous numbers of PhD graduates. We're not pushing any life changing research despite many PhDs. They go into politics or just supervise other PhD students n the cycle continues
@mensreacounts@alkags The idea that the fault either lies with the students or with the lecturers is misleading: it lies with the students, the lecturers, the administration that intimidates lecturers and Pampers students, and with a society that has long idolised shortcuts and trashed quality.
