The @TexasTribune asked me for a comment about a House member calling for a hearing on the New World Screwworm, and here’s what I told them:

I have been working with Governor Greg Abbott, Secretary Brooke Rollins, Commissioner Sid Miller, the House Agriculture & Livestock Committee, the House Culture, Recreation & Tourism Committee, the cattle industry, and wildlife groups to help make every tool available to address the New World Screwworm. The House has held hearings, made this an interim charge, and will hold more hearings as necessary to help. As election season approaches, I am glad to see more House members begin to recognize the importance of the cattle and beef industry to Texas.
