Before sunrise each day, mailroom workers bundled newspapers for newsboys to sell on street corners, at the Guthrie Depot, or deliver across town. And on the walls? Photos & drawings of “Lovely Ladies” that brightened the long workdays. A few still remain in our basement today.

If you’ve ever been down in the basement of th Museum, you may have noticed a large hole in the floor and wondered, What was that for? That opening once held the massive Goss Straight-Line Newspaper Perfecting Press— capable of printing thousands of newspapers every hour.

It was sad to hear of the passing of Gov George Nigh on 7/30/25. Gov Nigh played a special role in the history of the State Capital Publishing Museum. He was OK Gov at our official ribbon cutting on 11/16/82 Our thoughts & prayers are with the Nigh family during this time.

On November 16th, 1907: President Roosevelt signed the proclamation at 10:16 AM in the cabinet room, with only a small group of witnesses. After the Proclamation was signed, a follow was a 3 day party, from a parade, barbque, and the swearing in of Charles Haskell. #117yrs
