With all due respect…
Enough with the parade to the same 3-4 tax free destinations.
Let’s see some other teams landing these guys and being relevant contenders.
PS: Doesn’t Vegas have a coach to restrain from work? Enough out of them.
With all the speculation over Dylan Larkin's potential landing spot, you have to wonder about the Vegas Golden Knights being a destination he'd want to go. Larkin is good friends with Jack Eichel. Can VGK pull this off after the Cup Final?
Matthews (potentially)
Larkin (wants out)
Barzal (maybe being shopped)
Thomas (was on the block)
If you want to take a run at a C this is probably the year to make a pitch for it via trade.
There appears to be a number of decent trade options at C and you have to imagine seeing as the #Flyers will have cap space and have recently made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs…they’ll be a destination players may prefer.
@charlieo_conn@WalterMurphy71@BiladelphiaPHLY@PHLY_Flyers The only center offer sheet I could see is Fantilli. I don’t think their ownership is in the best shape to match (though they certainly could). Anaheim has too much cap space unless you want to make a massive shot at Carlsson and Gauthier together (which would be hilarious)
@FlyersAnt He’s nearly at that point already. That’s not that big of an uphill battle.
Now if they want to trade him to trade him, because they have another area of need and they’re getting back an equal center…I will reserve judgement. I don’t think it’s cause he’s a lost cause though
@FlyersAnt There’s a lot of anti-Russian bias in SOME of these comments. He’s 21 and with the last 2 seasons under his belt, he’s already proven he can be productive.
This is so “all or nothing”. Like maybe he’s never the best 200 foot player, but he’s passable on D and scores 65pts.
@nastyflyergirl@EricReeseFN That’s the part that I do feel is on Tocchet. He talks a lot. He went on NHL network and said things. He clearly talked to Biz. Some things need to stay in house, even if you’re on the right side of things.
@EricReeseFN@nastyflyergirl I’m fine with coaching him. I’m fine with letting him know you’re unhappy with the way he came into camp. I’m even fine with him sitting some games if he has to learn.
What is a non-negotiable to me though is the coach/teammates keeping those things in house.
@EricReeseFN@nastyflyergirl This is not the problem for MOST reasonable people. The problem is you need to keep it in house.
Lots of players have a sophomore slump and many need to learn the ropes. Just keep that coaching and criticism in house.
Don’t put a 21 year old on blast with Biz and friends.
The rest will take care of itself, but at least by handling things this way you give it the best chance to work and you don’t devalue your asset by leaking gossip/issues.
This has been all I’ve ever wanted/expected. The players/coaches should be outwardly positive or neutral regarding all of players. Say what you need to say behind closed doors.
Teach and keep it all in house. Define expectations directly, but not publicly or to outside sources.
It was noteworthy that the team leaders went heavy on Matvei Michkov support when asked about him.
Pretty clear they're all still committed to making the Michkov/Flyers relationship work. If there's any frustration behind closed doors, they made sure not to show it. That's big.
@DanKnightly No one is getting Martone off this roster. The fans love him. He sold a ton of jerseys. He’s only scratching the surface and he’s on an ELC, PLUS he has future captain written all over him.
I’d offer sheet Fantilli or Leo Carlsson waaaaaaay before making a deal like that
@TBFlyer I’m not trying to make it all about 39, but you’re missing Tippett and Cates and you’re sitting Michkov, who can make plays? I don’t think you have enough offense to just bench him. Use him in the right spots ESPECIALLY at home with last change
@DanKnightly@_ChrisMaher Michkov hasn’t been good in the playoffs. It’s not uncommon for a 21 year old.
That said, all year there’s been comments about him being out of shape, too slow, not taking warmups. There’s no reason to put the negativity in the ether.
There’s no reason for trashing him.
@hinx Even if you want to give the coach the benefit of the doubt there’s no reason to make every comment sound the way he does about 39 or any of the other guys who have had rough stretches or been scratched.
It’s just stupid
@hinx Nothing makes Kurz happier than trying to make it sound like Michkov is a fat malcontent, who the organization thinks is so bad that they had to tell Tocchet to sit him.
The coach doesn’t need help there. He’s all good.
And you can scratch 39, but why make it sound like that
@kime4kids Not only that, I feel like their D (specifically Drysdale and York), never have their feet in position to shoot or take ice that’s in front of them, when it’s there. It’s always lateral and the PK can easily pressure them into a play down the wall (which is very predictable)
