Hereโs my honest take on life in Toronto as an international student and worker ๐จ๐ฆ๐
1๏ธโฃ Cost of living โ the biggest challenge
Toronto is one of the most expensive cities in Canada for rent and housing.
Condos, houses, and rentals keep getting more expensive, and food and transportation costs keep rising. Honestly, even when you earn money, it often doesnโt feel like thereโs much left over.
2๏ธโฃ Job market โ competitive
Toronto has one of the largest job markets in Canada, but with so many immigrants, students, and working holiday participants, competition is really tough. Getting a job can be harder than expected.
3๏ธโฃ Diversity and openness โ the perks
One of the best things about Toronto is its multicultural environment.
Korean food, Chinese food, European cultureโeverything mixes naturally, making it easy for foreigners to live here. The relatively high number of Koreans is also one reason I chose to live here.
4๏ธโฃ People and overall vibe
Itโs a great city, but life is getting more challenging.
There are still plenty of opportunities, and the culture is open, so many people want to live hereโbut the ease and comfort of life arenโt what they used to be, and itโs becoming increasingly realistic to feel the pressure.
This is my perspective as someone living, studying, and working in Toronto.
