@LeonPhillips8 @ACatWithNews Psychiatrists, like people in general, are notoriously bad at predicting human behavior - there is research on it. Having said that, there is a massive difference between releasing someone prematurely from a psychiatric hold vs. actively killing them.
@ACatWithNews I’m actually an emergency psychiatrist in Riverside County, so if Serrano was put on 5150, they’d have brought him to my hospital. Things like this that make it hard to recommend calling 911 for psych emergencies.
@ACatWithNews Pulmonary edema is common in drug overdose, but it’s a relatively nonspecific finding. It can also be caused by chest wall trauma, pneumonia, heart failure, etc. - there *are* reports of pulmonary edema from electrocution in the literature.
