Metro fares are NOT decided by the Karnataka Government. They are fixed under the Metro Railways (Operations & Maintenance) Act, 2002, a Central law DRAFTED and PASSED by YOUR PARTY.
Let us put the truth on record, since you seem determined to bury it.
👉BMRCL is a 50:50 Centre-State joint venture, not a state unit.
👉The Fare Fixation Committee is appointed by the Union Government, not the State.
👉The Chairman of BMRCL is the Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, a BJP-appointed authority sitting in Delhi.
👉Section 37 of the Act makes FFC recommendations binding, the State Government has zero legal power to stall, revise, or roll back fares!
Now about the ₹60 to ₹90 fare hike you are desperately pinning on Congress.
That hike came from a Central FFC, using a deeply flawed cost formula approved during BJP’s tenure. Not by the Karnataka Cabinet. Not by the Chief Minister. Not by Congress.
If Bengaluru’s metro fares are “the highest in the country”, ask your own BJP government in the Centre why? Instead of conveniently running away from accountability every single time.
Congress has consistently opposed unjust fare hikes and demanded moderation within the limited space the law allows.
