GPCC President Girish Chodankar alleged that the Chief Minister and BJP are working on forming a new Salcete-based secular party ahead of the elections. Chodankar claimed that a ₹100 crore budget has been kept to divide the secular votes of Congress and alleged that the process of forming the party has already started with the involvement of some leaders.
