Justice for NHM Workers Cannot Wait
The struggle of National Health Mission (NHM) employees in Jammu and Kashmir is not merely a dispute over salaries it is a fight for dignity, security and recognition. These workers have served patients in hospitals, health centres and remote areas, often becoming the only dependable healthcare link for vulnerable communities. Their demand for regularisation, pay parity and social security deserves serious and urgent consideration.
Years of service should not mean years of uncertainty. Workers who perform essential duties deserve a transparent policy that provides genuine job security and a fair pathway towards regularisation. Equal work should carry equal pay, and NHM employees should not remain disadvantaged simply because of the nature of their appointment. EPF, ESI and health insurance are basic safeguards for workers and their families.
Both the Union and J&K governments have a responsibility to address these concerns through meaningful dialogue, transparent policy and a time-bound mechanism. The J&K government has acknowledged the long-pending concerns of temporary workers and stated that a roadmap for regularisation is being pursued.
Healthcare workers cannot be treated as expendable as suggested by National Confrence government. . Their service sustains our public-health system. Their dignity must be protected, their grievances heard, and their legitimate demands addressed with urgency.
A very basic question needs to be asked, what kind of cultural revival are we talking about if cinema is being celebrated while books the very foundation of thought, imagination and intellectual freedom are being restricted?
This is precisely why @ZuhaibYousfβs observation in this DW video deserves serious consideration. His point is not an argument against cinema, nor is it against celebrating art and culture. It is a much deeper question are we genuinely building a vibrant cultural ecosystem, or merely creating the appearance of one? I would urge everyone to watch this DW video carefully and listen to the point being raised. It is an important conversation about Kashmir, culture, freedom of thought and the kind of society we want to build.
A meaningful meeting with MP #Aga_Ruhullah at his residence today. We had a constructive discussion on politics, the future, and the way forward. Truly a great experience and a pleasure to meet him.
Morning theatre by NC and BJP which is not even entertaining. Nothing but a spectacle put out to normalize the wrongdoings of 5th August and reduce the aspirations and plight of Kashmiris to mere statehood.
