$ABUS got another LNP patent allowed over the weekend. This patent covers the fundamental concept of using opposing flows to manufacture the LNP encapsulated mRNA product. It has a very early filing date, going back to the early 2000's. $ROIV $MRNA
Dennis Ding (Jefferies) put out a thorough 66 slide presentation “Framing the MRNA LNP Saga” analyzing the $ABUS situation. I recommend it. He puts fair value at $5/share for the core $ABUS business + $3-8 more for the probability adjusted value of the litigation opportunity.
@MrX51422244 2.) In order for PFE to use that cationic lipid (ALC-0315) IN COMBINATION WITH a phospholipid, cholesterol and PEG lipid at the ratios in the $ABUS patents, $PFE ALSO needs a license from ABUS-the license from Acuitas is not a substitute for the patent rights PFE needs from ABUS.
This maps $ABUS patents to vaccines and candidates that likely infringe, and includes analyst estimates for the revenues (probability-adjusted for litigation and clinical success). This shows the asymmetric value opportunity that exists. $ROIV $MRNA $PFE $BNTX
@MrX51422244 1.) Acuitas holds patents on its cationic lipid ALC-0315, which it licensed to $PFE. However, Acuitas cannot and did not sublicense any $ABUS patents to PFE.
The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) just issued it's Mandate in connection with $MRNA's unsuccessful appeal of the '069 patent's validity. So the CAFC is now done with the case. Good news for $ABUS.
$RVNC was just denied institution on 2 key IPR challenges (IPR2021-01203, 4) against the '731 patent. IMO, the '731 patent blocks Daxi from coming to market and is owned by $EOLS's partner Medy-Tox. This is good for $EOLS and bad for $RVNC.
$MRNA's deadline for filing a petition for rehearing at the Federal Circuit for the '435 patent case (no. 20-1184) passed last night, with no filing by MRNA. IMO, the probability of $ABUS / $ROIV (Genevant) filing a lawsuit against $MRNA at any time just went up.
@drug_smolecules It's actually correct. In patent-speak, the format of the phrase you identified is called a "Markush-group." In a Markush group, alternatives are claimed as being chosen from, e.g., a group consisting of A and B. (see attached). $PRDS
IMO, $PRDS’s recently issued US Patent 11124497 covers Nirmatrelvir - one of the active ingredients in $PFE’s Paxlovid drug for Covid-19. The main claim of the patent appears to map cleanly to Nirmatrelvir.
Analysts forecast Paxlovid sales of $15b in '23 and a blockbuster beyond. If $PRDS got a 5% royalty on Paxlovid sales, it would mean $27 in ADDITIONAL value per share. If we estimate a 70% collection rate, that would result in an additional $18.9 per share.
$PRDS clearly won the race the Patent Office by filing first. Since the America Invents Act became the law in the US almost a decade ago, the “only thing that matters is who files for the patent first.”
$ABUS $ROIV - Genevant just cut another license deal for it's LNP technology. This time with royalties in the "mid-single digits" on future product sales. https://t.co/nfpnX3AeTD
$MRNA's deadline for filing a petition for rehearing at the Federal Circuit for the '069 patent case (no. 20-2329) passed last night, without any filing by MRNA. This is good for $ABUS and $ROIV.
