No Flowers, No Chocolates—Pass KOSA. A Mother’s Day message from moms who’ve lost children because of Big Tech’s abhorrent, addictive tactics. Deeply courageous.
@SaveTheSunF1R3x@Jaack_17@Pirat_Nation That's actually another very valid point. Knowing Hotta, it's not unlikely that they just purchased some cheap asset pack and didn't even double check because the reality is: most people simply do not give a fuck.
Ironmouse, Shylily, AmaLee, and even the VA for the game, Maggie Elise, have come out against the usage of AI in Neverness to Everness.
They cite being "lied" to about the use of AI, as well as being protective of the "artists" and voice actors for whom AI threatens...
WHAT ABOUT THE PROGRAMMERS?
WHAT ABOUT THE DEVELOPERS?
Generative AI today is used universally in the development of software, and has already led to the loss of many software development jobs, especially for junior-entry level jobs. AI is already in every game, software, website, and yes, even on the backend of Twitch.
Oh, but it's a different technology.
No. Generative AI, whether it's LLMs with Claude code, or AI art-videos uses the same kind of transformer algorithm. AI is already in tons of games, especially in code, and they don't disclose that just because it's not "art assets". Requiring disclosure only for creative tasks, not for programming, is a double standard.
You people don't care about other people's livelihood. You only care about the optics of playing a game on stream or taking sponsors NOW that the drama has unfolded into mainstream discourse.
But they don't care that AI is used in Nikke art assets.
Or that AI was used in E33.
Or that AI is used in the software for all the modern games.
AI is transforming how work gets done across EVERY creative and tech industry, just like previous tech waves did. Crashing out about the differences between “creative” and “technical” is stupid when both are replacing/augmenting human labor in exactly parallel ways.
TLDR... pretending AI in programming is somehow “different” and harmless while AI in art is an existential threat is pure unadulterated hypocrisy.
NTE Drama Discussion:
Lets say they used AI, that doesn't take away the thousands of hours of enjoyment people have had with the game in the last week.
This entire narrative that the game is bad now because AI usage was discovered feels like virtue signaling.
Are we now suppose to pretend we never liked the game or that the quality of it was bad the entire time? This rampant hate towards anything AI is indirectly causing people that once hated AI to become Pro-AI.
Cause this entire conversation just feels like a nothing burger of internet brownie points to say "SEE I HATE AI TOO"
@meow_meorw@Pirat_Nation No, getting scammed on Lin banner convinced me, or rather was the last straw after Vera was already a crime to the word optimization and the lagfest that was the underground area. My peers actually lasted like 2 months longer than me.
@meow_meorw@Pirat_Nation Tencents major fuckups were translation issues, not doing shit about hackers and even more greed.
Don't try to shill ToF to me, i really wanted to like that game back then.
@meow_meorw@Pirat_Nation Tencent absolutely did fuck up some things. But the overall terrible optimization of the game even on later patches, the atrocious netcode, the powercreep, annoying features like timegated content, garbage endgame and honestly a lot more were all issues the game itself had.
@meow_meorw@Pirat_Nation It's kind of their own fault that they have no "global fanbase". Hadn't they fucked pretty much everything there was to fuck up in ToF then there would be more goodwill out there.
Not that this would have stopped a performative retard like Iron Lung anyway.
@Jaack_17@Pirat_Nation Some of the billboards you find around town or pages in decorative manga lying around seem to be AI generated. It's an absolute nothingburger, these are things that wouldn't be in the game were it not for AI. They wouldn't have hired an artist for this, nobody lost anything.
