The whole debate on midday meal has been skewed by political allegiance. Of course there is the question of proteins. Let experts talk about that. But apart from that there is the question of food habits. Bengalis are predominantly non-vegetarians. Mandating only vegetarian food is therefore being seen as an encroachment of cultural habits. It is not a question of superiority of veg or non-veg food. And for God’s sake, don’t compare to what TMC govt was doing. They were are bunch of thugs, stealing everywhere and depriving everyone. That’s why people of Bengal kicked them out. If they are taken as the benchmark then God help Bengal.
