Matt Ramos is chasing more than medals.

The Boilermaker RTC athlete and Purdue coach recently won the 2026 Luzon Wrestling Championships and is seeking naturalization to represent the Philippines, with sights set on the 2026 Asian Games and a long-term push toward the 2028 Olympics.

Ramos recently met with Philippine Senator Francis Pangilinan and spoke on choosing to compete for the country tied to his father, grandparents, and family roots.

A U17 World champion and NCAA finalist, Ramos will be a major addition for the Philippine Wrestling Team.

Here are a few portal updates: Purdue is adding a JUCO talent at heavyweight.

Will Betancourt is down to his final two choices and expects to announce within the next 48 hours.

Peyton Thomas from Navy has an upcoming visit to Illinois scheduled, along with a 125 pounder.

Indiana is aiming to finish the portal strong, waiting on decisions from Crook and Veazy. Rutgers is also in the mix for Crook, though it’s still unclear what’s causing the delay.

Seriously, though—happy Mother’s Day! Make sure to take good care of all the amazing moms out there.

Purdue has been actively exploring the portal, targeting 125, 197, and 285, and they've identified a promising sleeper big guy with an announcement coming soon.

Ersland and his staff consistently develop wrestlers from top to bottom, so this one should turn out to be a great addition.

Christian Pyles said on FRL yesterday that he believes Dru Ayala is headed to Purdue.

Ayala went 11-4 with seven bonus-point wins as a true freshman at Iowa in 2024-25 before not competing last season.
