The local chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha at Purdue. Bringing information on politics to the students as well as connecting them with faculty and local officials.

Debbie Lesko (AR-8) joined Congress in a special election in late April 2018. Then, 7 months later, she was again awaiting election results, which ended in her favor. She joined 41 other women newly elected to Congress and became the only woman in the House Freedom Caucus.
Ilhan Omar (Min-06), our first Somali-American Representative, took only 3 months to learn English after receiving asylum in the US! Also Congress changed a rule to allow religious head coverings on the House floor so Omar and future hijab-wearing representatives can wear hijabs.
What do Debbie Murcarsel-Powell + Carlos Curbelo have in common? They both ran to represent FL-26, oppose (some) of Trump’s agenda, vocally support climate policies, and are Latinos. Differences? Marcarsel-Powell (D) won and is one of the many newly elected women to Congress.
No, our VP is not looking in a mirror. That is Mike Pence’s brother, Greg Pence, who won IN-06. Per IndyStar, Greg said he did not receive much advice from Mike, who won the same seat 18 years ago, because “[Greg] is older than [Pence], so the advice usually goes one way,".
Pi Sigma Alpha Purdue's New Year's resolution is to start theming our posts around a new subject each month. Our first topic is getting to know a few of our freshmen Congresspeople starting TOMORROW!
